Ukrainian National Handball team founded on the basis of HC Portovik, Odesa, moves forward in European Championships

ODESA, JULY 7th, 2011, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Ukrainian National Handball team founded on the basis of HC Portovik, Odesa, has moved forward in European Championships, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency has been informed about it today, 6 July, at the press service of HC Portovik.

According to the press service, the results of the first round of competitions showed, Ukrainian team, founded on the basis of HC Portovik, finished second in the subgroup, including 12 teams that entered in the main round of the beach handball European Championship.

“The Seventh Beach Handball European Championship gathered 15 male teams in the Croatian town of Umag. For the preliminary phase, participants were divided into groups of five teams each. Four teams from each group will go through into the next stage. Three teams, taking fifth place, will continue to play in the consolation round”, the press-service added.

Ukrainian national team won in group C, after the match commands are rated as follows: 1— Hungary, 2 — Ukraine, 3 — Denmark, 4 — Macedonia, 5 — Switzerland.

To participate in the main round, teams are divided in two groups of six teams each.

Group 1: Russia, Croatia, Ukraine, Denmark, Turkey, Cyprus, Group 2: Hungary, Norway, Spain, Serbia, Poland, Macedonia.

Consolation round: Greece, Sweden, Switzerland.
