Four boxers of Odesa National University win awards at the XV International Boxing Tournament in the Memory of Semen Trestin

ODESA, JULY 11th, 2011, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Four boxers of Odesa National Mechnikov University won medals at the XV International Boxing Tournament in the Memory of Semen Trestin, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency has been informed about it today 11 July, at the press service of the University.

According to the press service, the University head coach Azer Mustafayev’s students competed along with 130 contestants from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. The participants were from 18 to 34 years of age.

“The tournament was attended by very strong fighters, but our guys have proved their high level of sportsmanship”, Mr Mustafayev said.

“A four-year student Pavel Artemchuk won the tournament in the weight category 69 kg. The female part of the national team proved to be excellent: Victoria Bordyuh gained a silver medal among the 57 kg, Julia Geok (51 kg) and Marina Lopukhova (60 kg) won bronze medals in their weight classes”, they added in the press service.

INFIRMATION: Semen Trestin was eight-time champion of Ukraine, five-time winner of the championship Soviet Union Society Dynamo. He held about 50 international fights, all successful. S. Trestin was the first fighter of the Soviet Union to received the Boxer Oscarn troffy — a cup, awarded to the best athlete on the international and European tournaments.
