A swimmer of Odesa wins two bronze medals at the European Championship for the visually impaired

ODESA, JULY 29th, 2011, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Olga Yakibiuk of Odesa has won two bronze medals at the European Championship for the visually impaired, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency has been informed about it today, 29 July, at the Odesa Regional State Administration for Physical Training and Sports.

According to the Office, 2—10 July 2011 Berlin, Germany, hosted the European Swimming Championships for visually impaired athletes and those with the defeat of the musculoskeletal system. The Championship was attended by 433 sportsmen from 36 European countries. The National team of Ukraine was represented by 29 athletes, with the defeat of the musculoskeletal system and 16 sportsmen with visual impairments. Ukrainian team took the first place among the teams, gaining 105 medals including 41 gold, 37 silver and 27 bronze medals.

Ukrainian national team also included a representative of the Odesa Regional Centre Invasport — master of sports of Ukraine in swimming Olga Yakibiuk (completely blind). Olga competed in six distances and won 2 bronze medals in 400 m freestyle and 100 m butterfly. At a distance of 50 m freestyle she was the fourth.
