ODESA, SEPTEMBER 14th, 2011, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — IV International Conference Poland, Ukraine and other Black Sea Countries in Military and Political conflicts is being held in Odesa, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The conference, in particular, was attended by Consul General of Poland to Odesa Mrs Joanna Strzelczyk, Deputy Chief of Foreign Economic Affairs and European Integration of Odesa Regional State Administration Viktor Bondaruk, Deputy Head of Culture and Tourism of the Odesa Regional State Administration Dmytro Florov as well as teachers and scientists from the universities of Ukraine and Poland.

Among the issues addressed at the conference there are: Odesa defensive operation in 1941 in the context of the battles of the Eastern Front, Polish economic and political initiatives in the Black Sea coast of Russia (the end of XVIII century — 1920); new documents on Polish—Ukrainian cooperation during the Battle of Vienna 1683; influence of the Polish Question in the strategic planning and change in the arrangement of forces in the Ukraine and the Northern Black Sea 1848—1850 years and other.

Consul General of Poland noted: “It is a very important conference. First, because the subject is very interesting. We can say that the story is not completely known. And it is very important that historians of Poland and Ukraine cooperate and achieve certain results. Second, it is essential in its cooperation. It seems to me, that cooperation between our countries, historically have not been so good. It is important not only for the history of Poland, but also for Ukraine.”
