Odesa Mayor: St. Petersburg intends to open a cultural centre in our city

ODESA, SEPTEMBER 28th, 2011, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Mayor of Odesa Oleksiy Kostusev says St. Petersburg, Russia, intends to open a cultural centre in Odesa, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The Odesa City Council Administration for Information reported today, 28 September.

According to the Office, yesterday, 27 September, a Russian delegation headed by Minister of Transport of Russia Igor Levitin had a meeting with Odesa Mayor Oleksiy Kostusev.

The Russian delegation also included Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Ukraine Zurabov, Assistant to Transport Minister Yuri Petrov, as well as Consul General of Russia in Odesa Yuri Antonov.

During the meeting the parties discussed cooperation in the humanitarian, economic and cultural spheres.

“Coordinating Council on Transsiberian Transportation will be taking place In our city. Today, we briefly dwelled on the topic. In addition, we talked about the humanitarian cooperation. It was said that St. Petersburg wants here, in our city, to open a cultural center. Business and culture go hand in hand”, said Mayor Kostusev after the meeting with the Russian partners.

28—29 September, XX Plenary Session of the International Association Coordinating Council on Transsiberian Transportation (CCTT) will be taking place in Odesa. The event chaired by the President of JSC Russian Railways, President Vladimir Yakunin will be attended by Transport Minister Igor Levitin, the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Borys Kolesnikov, Director General of the State Enterprise Ukrzaliznytsya Volodymyr Kozak, as well as more than 200 members and guests of the CCTT from 24 countries.
