XVIII International Chess Tournament Cup of the Danube held in Izmail, Odesa Region

ODESA, SEPTEMBER 28th, 2011, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — XVIII International Chess Tournament Cup of the Danube has been held in Izmail, Odesa Region, Context-Pruchernomorie correspondent reports.

The City of Izmail’s official web site reports today, 28 September.

This year’s tournament was attended by over seventy representatives of six teams: Izmail Children’s sports school, the club White Rook, the Bulgarian team Dmitrovka, the ports club Khimik, Yuzhny, Tatarbunary Children’s sports school and educational complex Intelligence from Odesa. The Chief Judge of the competition was the National arbiter of Ukraine Sergiy Golubev. The results were summed in both the individual and in team competition.

24 winners were determined for all chess tournament, plus the winners of incentive prizes and two champions of the blitz tournament — Oleksiy Kukelko from Odesa and Oleksandr Cheban of Tatarbunary.

In the age group 1994—1997 y.o.b. White Rook won the first place. Sergei Mazurov became the champion in the individual competition among boys, second and third place — Sergei Denisov and Leonid Dobrovolsky respectively. Maria Demidenko was the winner among girls.

Khimik won in the age group 1998—2000. In the individual competition Vladislav Teregerya won first place among the boys and Svetlana Apostolakina was the first among the girls.

Maxim Gorshkov won the gold among the youngest participants of the tournament, Daniel Zaleski was the second, and the third — Daniil Kononeko. Among the girls, the situation was as follows: Victoria Russeva — the first prizee, Daria Reu — the second, while the youngest participant Irina Apostolakiy became the third.
