ODESA, SEPTEMBER 29th, 2011, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Consul General of Belarus to Odesa Valentin Filipchik says Belarus is ready to collaborate with Odesa Region, not only in economics, but in culture abd science as well, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

According to the press service of Odesa Regional State Administration, the envoy stated it today 29 September during his meeting with the Governor of Odesa Oblast Eduard Matviychuk.

The governor of the Odesa region, in course of the meeting, outlined the ways for further cooperation between the parties, both in economic and cultural spheres.

“One of the priorities of the regional authority is the realization of objectives set by the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, to attract investment in the Odesa region. Our region is the largest in Ukraine. There are 7 major ports. An interesting area for investment may also be agriculture, as we have about 2 million hectares of agricultural land”, said Governor Matviychuk.

In turn, Valentin Filipchik said that in dealing with the Chamber of Commerce and the Belarusian business he intends to raise the issue of investment in the Odesa region.

“Our cooperation will have a great future. We are ready to consider any suggestions and willing to engage in their implementation. At the same time we are ready to cooperate not only in economics but also in cultural, scientific fields”, said the consul.
