Companies of five foreign countries to compete in a tender to carry out reconstruction of three berths at Illichivsk Commercial Sea Port

ODESA, OCTOBER 18th, 2011, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ― Companies of five foreign countries will be competing in a tender to carry out reconstruction of three berths at Illichivsk Commercial Sea Port, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency has been informed about it today, 18 October, at the press service of Illichivsk Commercial Sea port.

According to the press service, on April 8, Illichivsk Commercial Sea Port announced the beginning of prequalification as part of an international tender concerning reconstruction works at berths number 7, 8, 9. The contract will be implemented at the expense of the loan provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Under EBRD requirements, the list of participants who received prequalification must be available to all the parties in interest, in order to promote and support the involvement of subcontractors and suppliers in the implementation of contracts within the project Development of Infrastructure of Illichivsk Commercial Sea Port.

Prequalification has been completed and the results have been approved by the EBRD. Thus, the following companies will take part in the tender: Azerkorpu (Azerbaijan), the joint venture FCC Construction, S. A. (FCC) and ALPINE Bau GMBH (Spain, Austria), Sinohydro Corporation Limited (China), partnership Josef Mobius Bau-aktiengesellschaft and High Raise Constructions (Germany, Ukraine).

INFORMATION: Illichivsk Commercial Sea Port is one of the youngest on the Black Sea. The Port was erected in the Soviet period in 1960s mainly for sea trade with socialistic countries. It has railway and vehicle approaches connected with the country’s mains. There are several operating ferry-crossings: Illichivsk — (Bulgary), Illichivsk—Poti and Illichivsk — Batumi (Georgia). Cargo operation complexes of the Port consisting of 28 berths having total length 5 thousand 500 metres are equipped with modern cargo-operating machinery.
