ODESA, NOVEMBER 15th, 2011, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — The Nobel Shipyard has launched the tanker Aleksander Shemagin designed by Marine Engineering Bureau, Odesa, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

According to the press service today, 15 November, the Nobel Shipyard held a ceremonial launch of the flagship tanker Alexander Shemagin (project RST25), deadweight at sea/river — 6610/5130 tons respectively, the vessel meets the high environmental standards.

When designing the tanker under project RST25 special requirements of Russian and international oil companies and environmental requirements of the Russian River Register (class ECO 3) Clean Design have been considered.

For the first time in Russia, this class was assigned to the tanker RST22, built in 2008.

The vessel is intended for mixed (river-sea) and sea transportation of crude oil and petroleum products including gasoline, with no limit as to the flash point, ensuring the carriage of goods by maintaining the temperature of 50° C. the ship provides simultaneous transportation of two kinds of cargo.

These vessels fit the Volga-Don Canal measurements and are also suitable for the Volga-Baltic Route. The overall length of the ship is 139.99 m, breadth —16.6 m, draught — 5.5 m.

In comparison with the Armada series, the project features the new enhanced river function, increased by 410 tonnes deadweight in river conditions preserving the features at sea.

The capacity of its six cargo tanks and two slop tanks makes 6 thousand 990 cubic meters, deadweight at sea — around 6 thousand 610 tons at 4.17 m draught, in the river — about 5 thousand 130 tons at 3.6 m draught, the speed of operation equals 10.5 knots. Endurance — 20 days. The crew consists of 12 people (maximum passenger capacity — 14 people).

The ship Aleksander Shemagin was laid on 21 December, 2010 the launch took place on 15 November 2011, the second ship of the project RST25 Pavel Yudin, was laid on 17 May, 2011, the third vessel Julius Makarenkov was laid on 1 November 2011.
