Ferry Slavyanin designed by Marine Engineering Bureau, Odesa, upgraded to transport disposed nuclear fuel

ODESA, JANUARY 13th, 2012, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — The Ferry Slavyanin designed by Marine Engineering Bureau, Odesa, has been upgraded to transport disposed nuclear fuel, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The press service of Marine Engineering Bureau has informed today, 13 January.

According to the press service, 11 January, 2012 the ferry Slavyanin has received international certificate for the consignment of disposed nuclear fuel (DNF) Class INF 2 in accordance with the DNF Code. Slavyanin became the world’s fifth vessel, equipped for the carriage of such dangerous goods.

INFORMATION: OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau was registered on March, 23rd, 1995 in Odesa, Ukraine. It was founded by a group of scientists of the Shipbuilding Department, Odesa National Maritime University. OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau works out pre-contract classification projects, projects of “conversion”, upgrade and renewal of sea vessels for internal and mixed journeys. They also prepare projects for increasing carrying and container capacities of ships and other related work.
