Oka Shipyard delivers 10th RSD44 dry-cargo ship designed in Odesa

ODESA, JANUARY 18th, 2012, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Oka Shipyard, Russia, has delivered the 10th dry-cargo ship of RSD44 series designed by Marine Engineering Bureau, Odesa, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The press service of Marine Engineering Bureau informed today, 18 January.

According to the press service today Oka Shipyard launched the tenth Volga Max dry-cargo ship of RSD44 series DWT in the river 5540 tons Captain Kanatov.

The Customer is JSC Volga Shipping, Russia.

The vessels of the series Captain Ruzmankin, Captain Zagryadtsev, Captain Krasnov, Captain Gudovich, Captain Sergeyev and Captain Kadomtsev have been operated by Volga Shipping for transportation of bulk cargoes.

The RSD44 series sets a record not only by the rapidity of construction, but also by deadweight in the river at 3.6 m draught and speed tests (mean velocity of the stream and upstream on the running trials of the leading ship was more than 12 knots).

The operation of these vessels also provides for the Volga-Don Ship Canal (VDSK), the Volga-Baltic Canal, the Azov Sea to the port of Caucasus in the Gulf of Finland, pass under the Neva bridges in the area of St. Petersburg and Rostov under the railway bridge (Rostov-on-Don) to be carried out without their setting (maximum surface clearance when passing under the bridges of 5.4 m).

INFORMATION: OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau was registered on March, 23rd, 1995 in Odesa, Ukraine. It was founded by a group of scientists of the Shipbuilding Department, Odesa National Maritime University. OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau works out pre-contract classification projects, projects of “conversion”, upgrade and renewal of sea vessels for internal and mixed journeys. They also prepare projects for increasing carrying and container capacities of ships and other related work.
