ODESA, FEBRUARY 7th, 2012, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — 4 Hyundai Rotem trains to serve on the route Kyiv — Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv — Odesa after EURO 2012, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine informed today, 7 February.

According to the press service, the six Hyundai Rotem trains will arrive in Ukraine, which, in compliance with the contract, the Korean manufacturer must make prior to the EURO-2012 finals. The first two high-speed trains will arrive in Ukraine in mid-March, another two — in the middle of April.

Ukrainian Railway deputy director Leonid Loboyko said, “Before EURO 2012 we will get six double-system inter-regional trains that will run in pendulum mode between the cities of Kyiv — Poltava — Kharkiv, Kiev — Poltava — Donetsk and Kyiv — Lviv. We expect the trains to run without interruption. Four more electric trains, which will arrive after the football championship, will be following to Dnipropetrovsk and Odesa.”

He also said that by mid-May, there will also be two electric double-deck Skoda trains (made in Czech Republic).

L. Loboyko noted that in accordance with the new classification the Hyundai Rotems were rated as “Inter City +”. A new classification of passenger trains in Ukraine can inform the consumer about the level of services, depending on the class of train and the carriage.

The Ukrainian Railway official also said that every Hyundai Rotem will have 579 seats, of which 168 will be first-class and 411 — second-class ones, there will also be a buffet.

“Stewards will be serving on the new trains instead of conductors — three for each train. Passengers will get good service: comfortable seats, adjustable air conditioning, luggage racks, monitors, Internet access and other services. I hope that passengers will be comfortable, and appreciate the advantages of day trips”, said L. Loboyko.
