ODESA, FEBRUARY 9th, 2012, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — President Viktor Yanukovych gas charged to get Odesa’s infrastructure ready for holding Eurobasket Championships, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

According to the press service, Viktor Yanukovych signed the Bill 74/2012 today, 9 February.

In particular, the decree provides for the establishment of the Organizing Committee on preparation and holding of the championship, which is entrusted with: construction, reconstruction of sports arenas, and other objects of sport infrastructure in Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Lviv, Odesa and Kharkov in order to bring such facilities into compliance with FIBA Europe requirements, and putting them into operation no later than December 2014.

In addition, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Lviv, Odesa, Kharkiv oblast and Kyiv city state administrations shall: establish within two months of the appropriate institutional committees and ensure the development and adoption of regional action plans for the preparation and holding of finals of European Championship 2015 in basketball; ensure the fulfillment of obligations (guarantees), designed according to the rules of FIBA-Europe for the final tournament in Ukraine, the European championship in basketball in 2015, to provide for the implementation of measures on preparation and holding of final matches of the tournament of the European championship in basketball in 2015 to create conditions to encourage investment activities, development of urban infrastructure, tourism, compliance with international requirements to ensure appropriate conditions for people with special needs when drafting local budgets for 2013, 2014 and 2015 to provide funds for the implementation of regional activities related to preparation and holding of final matches European Cup 2015 in basketball.
