ODESA, FEBRUARY 16th, 2012, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Consul General of Georgia to Odesa Teimuraz Nishnianidze says Odesa Region plays a huge role in Ukraine and Georgia’s partnership, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The envoy stated yesterday, 15 February, during a press conference dedicated to the official visit of the Odesa delegation to Georgia.

“It’s no secret that Ukraine is a very important strategic partner for Georgia, and just in this partnership the city of Odesa and Odesa Region play an important role. The export and import between the two countries passes through the ports of Odesa and Odesa Region. And this is exactly why Odesa is a very important partner for us and the city of strategic importance”, said the Consul General.

As previously reported, an official delegation of the Odesa City Council and most prominent business people will be visiting Tbilisi, Georgia, 1—2 March. The visit includes a conference with Prime Minister of Georgia Nikoloz Gilauri, a briefing with the Speaker of Parliament David Bakradze and Minister of Economy Veronika Kobalia, as well as several other events. In addition, there will be a business forum between representatives of municipal and business elites of Odesa and Georgia, the organization of thematic meetings of Odesa businessmen in various areas with potential business partners from Georgia. “The Georgian party is getting prepared. I can confidently say that this visit will take place at the highest level”, said the Consul General of Georgia in Odessa Teimuraz Nishnianidze.
