ODESA, FEBRUARY 16th, 2012, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Partnership between Odesa and Tbilisi will be officially discussed during the visit of Odesa delegation to Georgia, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The envoy stated yesterday, 15 February, during a press conference dedicated to the official visit of the Odesa delegation to Georgia.

“In 1997 the cities of Tbilisi and Odesa (it happened under the old regime — President Shevardnadze) signed a partnership agreement. Today it barely works. We would like to have, with new power, and with new developments, re-sign the contract and to set in motion the development of normal partnerships”, said the Consul General.

“So, clearly, in the course of this trip partnership between the two cities in very different spheres will be discussed at the official level”, he added.

As previously reported, an official delegation of the Odesa City Council and most prominent business people will be visiting Tbilisi, Georgia, 1—2 March. The visit includes a conference with Prime Minister of Georgia Nikoloz Gilauri, a briefing with the Speaker of Parliament David Bakradze and Minister of Economy Veronika Kobalia, as well as several other events. In addition, there will be a business forum between representatives of municipal and business elites of Odesa and Georgia, the organization of thematic meetings of Odesa businessmen in various areas with potential business partners from Georgia. “The Georgian party is getting prepared. I can confidently say that this visit will take place at the highest level”, said the Consul General of Georgia in Odesa Teimuraz Nishnianidze.
