ODESA, MARCH 2nd, 2012, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Vice Governor of Odesa Region Petro Khlytsov has held an official meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to Ukraine HE Mr Chuah Teong Ban, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The meeting was held yesterday, 1 March, at the Odesa Regional State Administration building.

The envoy said that “the purpose of his visit is to understand what Odesa and Odesa region are, what their potential is, what its marine potential is like, and how powerful the port is, as well as the role of the Odesa region in Ukraine as a whole. Odesa is very important to Malaysia because Odesa is the sea gate, through which Malaysian products can enter the territory of Ukraine, CIS countries and part of the territory of Russia.”

Mr Khlytsov, in turn, added, “We would like to eventually consider the possibility of signing an agreement on socio-economic, scientific-technical cooperation between the Odesa Regional State Administration and the State of Malacca (Malaysia).”
