ODESA, MARCH 2nd, 2012, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — The territory of the consular district of the Consulate General of Russia in Odesa counts nearly 9 thousand Russian citizens, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Consul General of Russia to Odesa Mr Yuriy Antonov informed today, 2 March, during a press conference.

According to the envoy’s information, the territory of the consular district of the Consulate General of Russia in Odesa (Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kherson and Kirovohrad regions) counts nearly 9 thousand Russian citizens. The majority of Russian citizens reside in the territory of Odesa and Odesa region — 4.5—5 thousand, 1.5 thousand people live in Mykolaiv and Kherson regions, some Russian citizens also live in Kirovohrad.

“It is very difficult to predict how many people will participate in the upcoming election of Russian President in our consular district. We can only know the number of Russian citizens in the district from consular registration. But consular registration procedure is not obligatory, some people register and then go somewhere else on business, others do not bother to register at all”, he added.
