ODESA, MARCH 16th, 2012, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Keel-laying ceremony of a ship designed by Marine Engineering Bureau, Odesa, held at ZNT Yard, Russia

The press service of Marine Engineering Bureau informed today, 16 March.

According to the press service, the contract assumes the construction of BLV02 two ships for the Volga-Baltic and White Sea-Onega basin Offices of Public Waterways and Shipping. This vessel was designed to perform the following operations: control of the fairway on the inland waterways and port areas, control of the fairway to navigation, control of lights on illuminated signs; placement and removal of signs, as well as their movement when changing the boundaries of the channel, waterway signs and marking maintenance and repair of light signalling devices.

The vessel has the following characteristics: length overall — approximately 47 m, length between perpendiculars — 40.49 m, breadth overall — approximately 10.50 m, hull height — 3.50 m, draught — 2.0 — 2.5 m; speed — 10.8 knots; endurance — 15 days. The crew is composed of 12 people.

INFORMATION: OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau was registered on March, 23rd, 1995 in Odesa, Ukraine. It was founded by a group of scientists of the Shipbuilding Department, Odesa National Maritime University. OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau works out pre-contract classification projects, projects of “conversion”, upgrade and renewal of sea vessels for internal and mixed journeys. They also prepare projects for increasing carrying and container capacities of ships and other related work.
