According to the press service today, July 17, sailor Yuriy Zhiradkov went from Mykolaiv Yacht Club to circumnavigate the globe. Among the distinguished guests who came to see him off was Mayor Volodymyr Chaika.

V. Chaika noted the importance of this event for the whole of the huge city, and wished good luck and all the best. “Seven feet under the keel”, said the mayor and handed the navigator the flag and pennant of Mykolaiv.

According to Zhirdakov, the whole journey will take at least two years. It will be held in places of Russian Cadets scattering abroad on such a route: Mykolaiv ― Black Sea ― Bosporus ― Dardanelles ― Athens ― Mediterranean Sea ― Bizerte ― Marseille ― Gibraltar ― Gibraltar ― Atlantic Ocean ― Canary Islands ― Barbados ― Caribbean ― Caracas ― Florida ― Panama ― Pacific ― Galapagos ― Marquesas Islands ― Tahiti ― Samoa ― Fiji ― Vila ― Torres Strait ― Darwin ― Indian Ocean ― Cocos Islands ― Maldives ― Aden ― Red Sea ― Suez Canal ― Mediterranean ― Cyprus ― Dardanelles ― Bosporus — Black Sea ― Mykolaiv.

Yuriy said, he had already had single voyages. But they were not as long and ambitious. He skirted the Black Sea, went on the Danube and Dnieper. And now the time has come to conquer the seas and oceans of the world. He noted that this voyage he was about ten or fifteen years.
