ODESA, OCTOBER 12th, 2012, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ― The preparation for the EuroBasket-2015 has started in Odesa, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Odesa City Council Information Office reported today, 12 October.

According to the office, the European basketball championship will take place in Odesa. Fundamental positive changes in landscaping, urban and sports infrastructure will take place. The organizing committee of the EuroBasket-2015 championship preparation in Odesa is headed by Odesa Mayor Oleksiy Kostusev. The extended conference for the European Basketball Championship will be held in Kyiv next week.

On the eve of the Kyiv conference, members of the working group met at the local level in Odesa.

According to the deputy head of the Odesa EuroBasket-2015 organizing committee, the Deputy Odesa Mayor Mychola Ilchenko, the main assigned task is to make Odesa the perfect city, which is the receiving city of the EuroBasket-2015. Today we are working in this direction. The most important issues of the championship preparation are the central building of the basketball arena, a new sports complex (10.12 million viewers), the reconstruction of the existing data base and new sports venue.

In the framework of the preparation and conducting of Eurobasket-2015 in Odesa, the creating of the department of the same name is planned. Odesa borrowed experience of Lviv, which successfully prepared and held football matches of Euro 2012.

Odesa pretends to host the EuroBasket-2015 along with Dnepropetrovsk, Donetsk, Lviv, Kharkiv and Kyiv. It is expected, hundred thousand basketball fans will visit Odesa.

INFORMATION: The FIBA EuroBasket 2015 will be the 39th edition of the FIBA EuroBasket championship that is organized by FIBA Europe. It will take place in Ukraine. The decision was taken by the FIBA Europe Board on December 18, 2011.
