International Student Centre for recreation and tourism founded by the European Union to create in Odesa Region

ODESA, OCTOBER 20th, 2012, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ― The first Ukrainian International Student Centre of recreation and tourism (ISCRT) with support of the European Union will be created on the sea coast on the basis of the reconstructed recreation complex Chaika of Odesa National Polytechnic University, Ovidiopol district, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Rector of ONPU Gennadiy Oborskiy stated yesterday, 19 October, during the opening of the press conference “Problem solution of student health improvement and development of youth tourism. European experience and its adaptation in Ukraine”.

According to the rector, initiating the International Student Health Centre, representatives of Ukrainian and Romanian universities (Odesa Polytechnic University and the Stefan cel Mare University of Suceava) guided by the fact that the path of integration to the European Community is a strategic vector of the Ukrainian development. The Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sports of Ukraine, as well as the authorities of Odesa and the Odesa region supported the initiative of its creation.

The European Union invested almost 1.8 million Euros for the creation of the ISCRT project within two years. This International modern health centre on the sea coast, 40 km from Odesa, will have excellent conditions for a thousand students rest, including the annual rehabilitation of people with disabilities from the Ukraine, Romania and other neighboring countries.

As G.Oborsky noted, EU project The International Student Centre for recreation and tourism: the way to healthy nation was launched in the Odessa region in the framework of cross-border cooperation programmes in Ukraine, Romania and Moldova under the slogan “Mutual borders. Mutual solutions”.
