ODESA, NOVEMBER 15th, 2012, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ― Odesa photographers of “Architectural Odesa” project have been among the winners of the Wikipedia International Photo Contest for the best photos of cultural heritage and the best picture of the region, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The organizing committee of the contest “Wiki loves monuments 2012” noted photo of the Odesa Opera House was among the best photos of the Ukrainian part of the photo contest.

”Ukraine took part in the contest for the first time this year. More than 44 thousand Ukrainian monuments were published in Wikipedia list ― it's a great work! As a result of this difficult work, 648 members downloaded 33 269 images. It makes Ukraine No.3 in the rank of the highest number of downloads”, the contest organizers noted.

According to the participants of the “Architectural Odesa”, the victory in this competition is the promotion, step forward, the stimulus to work on. May be their works will help restorers, historians in the future. They leave a full catalogue of architectural treasures of the city.
