Director of Alpinist Club “Odesa” receives Medal of Honour

ODESA, NOVEMBER 19th, 2012, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ― Honoured Master of Sport of the USSR, Honoured coach of Ukraine, “Odesa” alpinist club’s director Mstislav Gorbenko has received the Medal of Honour of “Mount Everest Climber”, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

“Odesa” alpinist club’s press service reported today, 19 November.

According to the press service, the awards in honour of the 30th anniversary of the first Soviet ascent on Everest were presented in Moscow by the Nepalese Ambassador to Russia Mr. Surya Kiran Gurung, President of the Russian mountaineering federation Andrey Volkov, and UIAA President Fritz Vrejlandt.

INFORMATION: Mstislav Gorbenko was the first from Odesa, who climbed Everest in the framework of the international expedition “Ascent of the World”. He became the Director of “Odesa” alpinist club in 1981.
