ODESA, NOVEMBER 28th, 2012, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ― Consul General of Turkey to Odesa Huseyin Ergani has noted Turkish winter tourism centres have reached the level to host the Olympics, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Huseyin Ergani stated yesterday, 27 November, during a press conference at IA Context-Prichernomorie.

“One of our government's plans is to extend the tourist season in Turkey to 12 months. Turkey previously was not known for winter tourism, so a lot of finance was invested in infrastructure and the development of winter tourism centres already existed in Turkey. Thanks to recent work, many of the centres of winter tourism have reached the level to host important events, even Olympics”, the Consul General noted.

“As to the hotels worked in Turkey in the tourism sector, their number in 2002 were 419 units, and in 2011 ― 969 hotels, which is 131.2% more than in 2002”, he added.
