The tanker designed by the Odessa engineers is floated in Nizhniy Novgorod

ODESSA, JULY, 18TH, 2008, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — The Ship-building factory «Krasnoe Sormovo» (Nizhniy Novgorod, Russia) has launched the third vessel of a new series — tanker-goods-chemicals-carrier BASHIR SAFAROGLU designed by Odessa «Sea engineering bureau», IA “Context-Prichernomorie” correspondent reports.

The agency was informed about this today, on July, 18th, by the OSEB press-service.

The vessel of a new series is logic continuation of the tankers known as «Armada». Ten tankers of «Armada» type are successfully maintained on the mixed transportations “river-sea” of crude oil, black oil, diesel fuel, other mineral oil and vegetable oils and also on sea transportations in Caspian, Black, Mediterranean, Baltic and Northern seas, including routes around the Europe and Irish Sea in the winter.

Vessels of a new series relate to tankers of «Volga-Don max» class and completely satisfy the Volga-Don ship canal dimensions.

In comparison with «Armada» series, tankers of the new project have the strengthened sea function, the deadweight increased by 650 tons in sea conditions and the raised capacity of cargo tanks at preservation of opportunities in the river.

The laying of vessel BASHIR SAFAROGLU has been carried out on April, 26th 2007. Floating — on July, 18th 2008.

In total ten vessels should be constructed in a new series as well as in a series «Armada.

INFORMATION: Open joint-stock company «Sea engineering bureau» was registered on March, 23, 1995 in Odessa. It was created by a group of scientific employees of shipbuilding faculty of the Odessa national sea university. The Sea Engineering Bureau is engaged in development of pre-contract, classification projects, projects of «conversion», modernization and renewal of the vessels, the internal and mixed navigation, preparation of projects of increase of carrying capacity and capacity of containers of the vessels, development of ship programs and others.
