ODESA, FEBRUARY 19th, 2013, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ― Odesa National Mechnikov University has taken the first place among Odesa universities in the International Webometrics Ranking, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The press service of ONU reported yesterday, 18 February.

According to the press service, Odesa National Mechnikov University 139 ranking was up in the International Webometrics Ranking and took 1864th place among the 2000 best universities in the world. During the six months preceding the date of publication of the rating, Odesa University improved the “Impact Rank” on 1 thousand 322 points. This criterion (similar to the Shanghai ranking criterion) takes into account inbound links from the third sites on page of the university. These references define the institutional prestige, academic activity, the quality and usefulness of the information services provided on web pages of the university.

According to the creators of the rating ONU improved the indicator “Excellence”. This criterion is formed on the basis of the most cited works of the university scientists in the network, the media and among other researchers.

In the world ranking, ONU leaves behind almost 20 thousand universities from 150 countries. Other Odesa universities fall behind more than a thousand positions.
