ODESA, FEBRUARY 16th, 2013, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ― Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkey to Ukraine H.E. Mr. Mehmet Samsar has defined Mykolaiv as a prior city for cooperation, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Mykolaiv City Council reported today, 16 February.

According to the press service, Mehmet Samsar and Consul General of Turkey to Odesa Hüseyin Ergani paid an official visit to Mykolaiv 15 February and met with city leaders. Today they participate in the presentation and opening of a new public organization “Union of Turkish and Ukrainian Industrialists and Entrepreneurs” (“TUSIAB”).

Mayor of Mykolaiv Volodymyr Chaika announced his intention to increase the efforts to strengthen the friendship between peoples, and to continue the strategic partnership. Mehmet Samsar stressed that for the Turkish side Mykolaiv is a priority city in southern Ukraine.

“Our task is the free traveling, the movement of capital and goods. Thanks to our industrialists we have free movement of capital. And from the last August, we have the free movement of citizens. In 2011, during the visit of the President of Ukraine the possibility of signing a free trade agreement was discussed. We favour the elimination of factors that hinder the development of further social and economic relations”, the Turkish Ambassador noted.

The purpose of Mehmet Samsar’s visit is the familiarizing with the potential of the region. He promised to contribute to the development of shipbuilding in Mykolaiv and expressed confidence that the two countries will cooperate in the development of small and medium businesses.

The mayor said that the city has a formed package of investment proposals which will be given to the embassy.

Also during the meeting Mr Chaika and Mr Samsar agreed that the newly formed Union of Turkish businessmen reconstructs historical monument “Turkish fountain” at the yacht club.

“It will be a symbolic beginning of investment in Mykolaiv”, the Ambassador mentioned.
