Polish Language and Literature Olympiad held in Odesa

ODESA, FEBRUARY 20th, 2013, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ― Regional Polish Language and Literature Olympiad winners have received gifts and diplomas from the Consulate General of the Polish Republic in Odesa, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

For the tenth year in a row, Regional Polish Language and Literature Olympiad has been held in Odesa School ¹121. This year, 11 pupils of the city’s schools ¹117 and ¹121, and Gymnasium ¹2 participated in the event.

The Olympiad consisted of two rounds. The first, qualifying one included a written dictation, art word and an audition. The second round, featuring only 9 students, was geared towards solving the tasks on Polish literature.

After the results have been announced, the Consul General of the Polish Republic in Odesa Mrs. Joanna Strzelczyk handed in the present and the honorary diplomas to all the participants on behalf of the Consulate.

The winners of the linguistic competition received an opportunity to defend the title of the best at the All-Ukrainian stage of the Olympiad to be held in Khmelnitskiy City this March.

The tournament is organized by the Institute of Literary Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences (Warsaw, Poland) and is evaluated by the independent commission of the Polish lecturers, whose work is monitored by the representative of the Consulate General of the Polish Republic in Odesa. Aside from Odesa, such competitions are held in Kiev and Lvov, and the winner of the All-Ukrainian Olympiad will receive the grant from the Polish government, that will allow them to study Polish philology in any university of Poland.
