Odesa Governor meets German Ambassador to Ukraine

ODESA, MARCH 1st, 2013, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ― Odesa Governor Eduard Matviychuk has met Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine Christof Weil, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The press service of Odesa Regional State Administration reported today, 1 March.

According to the press service, yesterday, February 28, the Chairman of the Odesa Regional State Administration Eduard Matviychuk held a meeting with the German delegation headed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine Christof Weil. The parties discussed further cooperation between the Odesa region and the administrative units in Germany in the economic and cultural spheres.

In particular, the head of the State Administration noted that “the issue of attracting investment to the Odesa region is one of the priorities for the regional government, and actually Odesa region is one of the most promising for foreign investors. We plan to attract foreign investment more than it was raised previous 20 years”.

Mr Matviychuk also mentioned that “the region demonstrates the stability in the economic and political spheres, and regional authorities are open for cooperation. Its work focused on the creating of the favourable conditions for business. The promising directions are marine economic complex and alternative energetics”.

Also during the meeting the issues concerned the cultural sphere were agreed on. In particular, in the framework of the Odesa International Opera Festival 2013 the demonstration of the unique Ukrainian-German project of Wagner's opera “The Flying Dutchman” is planned.
