Odesa participates in the International Touristic Exhibition in Berlin

ODESA, MARCH 14th, 2013, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ― Odesa has presented its touristic potential during the International ITB Berlin 2013 Touristic Exhibition, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Odesa City Council Information Office reported today, 14 March.

According to the information, representatives of over 180 countries participated in the International ITB Berlin 2013 Tourist Exhibition. The German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited the official opening ceremony. Five days exposure was attended by around 200 thousand people.

Odessa became the first Ukrainian city, which presented its tourism potential at ITB in the framework of the Ukrainian stand. Odesa was represented by Deputy Mayor of Odesa Elena Pavlova, Head of Culture and Tourism of the Odesa City Council Tatyana Markova and the president of the association Tourism of Odesa Ivan Liptuga. Our city presented a series of tours of Odesa. The presentation of the hotel business attracted the special attention of foreigners.

As a result of the exhibition Ukrainian stand was recognized as one of the 10 most interesting stands and took fifth place in the ranking of European countries.

Also Odesa delegation conducted more than 30 meetings, including: the meeting with the representatives of the German company organizing adventure tours; with the director of PR company from Dubai (United Arab Emirates); with the representative of the Polish company developing mobile tourist guides, and other representatives of the tourism and PR-companies; public organizations, such as the Superlative Adventures, Media Consulta, Hecktic Travel, Pacific Leasure Group, Expression-RP, Aviareps, Herzog-Touristic etc.

One of the results of a series of talks was an agreement to hold a press tours for journalists from Germany, Austria and Switzerland to Odesa in autumn this year. Representatives of different sites for Russian-speaking from Germany, USA, and France expressed a desire to spread information about Odesa for its further advancement in the tourism field.

“Besides the countries traditionally interested in Odesa, such as Germany, Britain, the USA, this time Odesa interested such countries as India, China, United Arab Emirates, Korea, Greece and Cyprus. Odesa is not a priority tourist direction for these countries. However, according to the exhibition, the trends in the world tourism are changing, and it can have a positive impact on the flow of tourists to our city. Some airlines were represented at the exhibition, and also expressed interest in cooperation”, the Office noted.
