International Conference “Khadzhibey and North-Western Black Sea region in the Ottoman-Turkish sources” to start tomorrow at ONU

ODESA, APRIL 16th, 2013, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ― The International Conference “Khadzhibey (Odesa) and North-Western Black Sea region in the Ottoman-Turkish sources” will start tomorrow in Odesa, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The press service of ONU reported today, 16 April.

According to the information, tomorrow, 17 April, in the conference hall of the Odesa National Mechnikov University, International Conference “Khadzhibey (Odesa) and North-Western Black Sea region in the Ottoman-Turkish sources” will open at 10:00.

“Over the three days leading historians of Ukraine and Turkey will discuss medieval and modern history of the North-Western Black Sea, and tell how the Khadzhibey citizens lived here in XVI-XVIII centuries. For the first time it will be presented documents from the Turkish archives on the ethnic composition of the population, origin and toponymy of the region, the economic and cultural life of cities and towns. It will be held a demonstration of the unique cartographic material, presentation of publications on relevant topics,” the press service said.
