ODESA, MAY 29th, 2013, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ― Yesterday, 28 May, the celebrations on the occasion of Independence Day of Georgia were held at the Diplomatic Club in Odesa, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

According to the Odesa Eparchy of Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Moscow Patriarchy, yesterday, May 28, at the invitation of the Consul General of Georgia to Odesa Teimuraz Nishnianizde, Metropolitan of Odesa and Izmail Agathangelus visited the celebrations on the occasion of the national holiday ― Independence Day of Georgia, which took place in the Diplomatic Club in Odesa.

In his speech, His Eminence Agathangelus congratulated all those presented on this momentous occasion, stressing the role of Orthodoxy in the life of Ukrainian and Georgian peoples.

“We have a common faith, common saints, common spiritual and cultural values,” said Metropolitan Agathangelus.

His Eminence also noted the important role of the spiritual leader of Georgia ― His Holiness and Beatitude Catholicos-Patriarch Elijah II.

His Grace thanked the Consul General of Georgia to Odesa for his significant work on the strengthening of friendship and cooperation between the two Orthodox peoples.
