Annual International Transport Week starts its work in Odesa

ODESA, MAY 29th, 2013, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ― The Annual International Transport Week has started its work in Odesa, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The organizers of the event noted today, 29 May.

According to the organizers, in the framework of the International Transport Week five important events will be held.

The first day of the International Transport Week is devoted to the international transport forum EWTCA Association (transport corridor “East-West”), “The expansion of transport traffic and communications between the Baltic Sea ― Black Sea in the eastern part of the EU's neighborhood policy”. The event is attended by the representatives of Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, Estonia, etc. ― 80 people from 13 countries.

During the opening ceremony, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania Mr Saulius Girdauskas wished the participants success and thanked the organizers for the opportunity to hold Forum of the EWTCA Association in Odesa for the second time.

“Today Ukraine marks a positive trend in simplification of a trade procedure. The implementation of unified system of “single window” allows the rapid exchange of relevant information about foreign trade and the acceleration a process of the delivery of goods. In particular, today, we take notice of the new design concept of the “single window” linking the Baltic and Black Seas,” said Mr Girdauskas.

Also Mr Girdauskas reminded that from 1 July to the end of 2013, the Republic of Lithuania will chair the Council of Europe. Lithuania will strive to complete the already started this year's case and pay more attention to the implementation of the Baltic Sea Strategy and the EU's Eastern Partnership Project, which includes Ukraine.

As part of the International Transport Week will also be a presentation of container train “Viking”, XII International Exhibition and Conference “Inter-Transport”, the third international seminar of United Nations Economic Commission for Europe on the simplification of a trade procedure and a project of “single window” as a local solution (Port Community System), XI International Freight Forwarder's Day.

Today, May 29, at the International Transport Week in Odesa under the chairmanship of the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Kozak will be a meeting of Transport Ministers of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation.

The participation was confirmed by the heads and representatives of transport agencies of Bulgaria, Armenia, Georgia, Greece, Lithuania, Moldova, Russia, Romania, Serbia, Turkey, Hungary, and the Association of the Black and Azov Sea Ports, the Black Sea International Shipowners Association, the Union of the Association of the International Road Carriers of the BSEC Region and others.
