ODESA, OCTOBER 4th, 2013, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ¬― The representatives of the Swedish Ministry of Defense have visited Odesa to hold the military political consultations, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The press service of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine reported today, 4 October.

The Swedish delegation led by Capt 1st Rank Lennart Danielson, Director, Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Defence, shared experience with Oleksandr Zatynayko, Director, Department of Military Policy and Strategic Planning, Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, and other representatives of national defence ministry. Especially, they discussed the EU joint security and defence and regional security cooperation. The parties evaluated the current state and the prospects of further development of cooperation between ministries of defence and armed forces of Ukraine and Sweden, as well as agreed the draft of the 2014 Cooperation Plan.

“The experience of realization of Swedish defence policy is very important for Ukraine, this is the European non-NATO nation and it transferred to contract armed forces several years ago, as well as it participates in peacekeeping operations within European security forces,” informed Col. Oleksandr Gayvoronskyi, Chief, Sector of Regional Security Policy, Department of Military Policy and Strategic Planning, Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

Capt 1st Rank Lennart Danielson stressed he was authorized to help Ukraine on its way to European integration, particularly, in issues of defence policy and reforms of Ukrainian Armed Forces on the basis of the experience of leading European armed forces.

“Next year, we are going to concentrate on training of Ukrainian servicemen, as well as augment the number of joint events of our defence ministries,” commented Swedish officer.

Oleksandr Zatynayko underlined the Ukraine’s interest in successful development of European project and active participation in European Security Structures.
