Opinion: Ukraine’s participation in the Danube strategy could deepen Ukrainian-Bulgarian relations

ODESA, NOVEMBER 11th, 2013, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ― The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria Kristian Vigenin has stated that the Ukraine’s participation in the Danube strategy could deepen Ukrainian-Bulgarian relations, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Mr Vigenin noted on Saturday, 9 November, during the meeting with the Governor of Odesa region Mykola Skoryk.

“Today’s meeting was a preparatory step for further visit of the Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov to Bulgaria. Yesterday there was a meeting with Mykola Azarov where the ideas about the future cooperation between Ukraine and Bulgaria were discussed. Naturally, the Odesa region has been considered as one of the major regions, which deepens the processes of interaction and cooperation between the two countries,” the minister noted. “European assistance and opportunities on implementation of further initiatives could be used in case of good coordination. One of the strategies is Danube Strategy, which will be implemented and includes the Black Sea region. It is one of the most striking examples would deepen relations between Ukraine and Bulgaria in the framework of the European project. All items will become clear during the visiting of Mykola Azarov to Bulgaria.”
