ODESA, NOVEMBER 14th, 2013, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ― Research worker of the Institute for Economic Research and Policy Consulting Viktor Grechyn considers that monopolists will resist innovations after the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Mr Grechyn noted yesterday, 13 November, during the round-table discussion: “A free trade area with the EU: regional expectations on the eve of the signing of the Association Agreement”.

Approximation of competition law and its practical use to the relevant regulations of the European Union should increase the investment attractiveness of Ukraine and improve the business climate. But at the same time, many Ukrainian monopolists, for example, “Naftogaz” will resist innovations rigidly,” he noted.

The expert added that one of the benefits of the Agreement is the expected price lowering in some markets as a result of their demonopolization.
