Opinion: Ukraine should keep balance between the EU and Russia

ODESA, NOVEMBER 18th, 2013, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ― Ukrainian deputy Anton Kisse believes that Ukraine should keep balance between the EU and Russia, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Such statement Anton Kisse noted on Friday, 15 November, in the course of the round table discussion on the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union.

The press service noted that the people’s deputy, co-chairman of the Parliamentary Group for Interparliamentary Relations with the Republic of Bulgaria of the Verkhovna Rada A. Kisse took part in a roundtable discussion in Sofia dedicated to the signing of a future association agreement between Ukraine and the European Union.

The event was held at the initiative of the Bulgarian National Assembly, Bulgarian- Ukrainian Industrial Chamber and Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Bulgaria.

The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria Mihail Mikov, the Chairman of the parliamentary group for cooperation with Ukraine, the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria Kamen Kostadinov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine in Bulgaria H.E. Mykola Baltazhy, Chargé d'Affaires at the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania Darius Gaidys, the Chairperson of the Foreign Policy Committee of Bulgarian Parliament Mr. Yanaki Stoilov, the Chairman of the Bulgarian-Ukrainian Industrial Chamber Lidia Shuleva, the Chairman of the President of The Atlantic Club of Bulgaria Solomon Passy.

During the discussions, the representatives of the Bulgarian side expressed strong support for the signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union. The speakers noted that the association would have a positive impact on economic relations as between Ukraine and Bulgaria, as well as between Ukraine and other countries of the EU. It was separately recorded the positive factor of removal of customs duties, which occurs if the document was signed.

Ukrainian deputy A. Kisse said that it is very important for Ukraine to keep balance of economic, political, cultural and geopolitical interactions to maintain relationships with the European Union and the Russian Federation. At the same time Ukrainian politician said that the signing of association with the EU opens to Ukraine a great economic opportunities in a future perspective.
