I International Conference on modern multicultural region was held at ONU

ODESA, NOVEMBER 19th, 2013, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ― 60 students and scientists have attended the I International Scientific Conference “Social, psychological and political issues of cross-border security”, held in the Odesa National Mechnikov University, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

According to the press service, the first international scientific conference “Social, psychological and political issues of cross-border security” was held in Odesa National Mechnikov University. The three-day forum was attended by 60 representatives of Moldova, Poland, the Republic of Transnistria, and Ukraine.

During the four breakout sessions, there were listened reports on various social, psychological and political issues that arise in today’s multicultural region, which could pose a threat to the cultural-historical and socio-psychological potential of society.

“Security issues in multicultural regions are becoming more relevant in the current environment of economic and political crises, covering the countries of Europe and Asia. Regional problems can be solved only by the joint cooperation on the basis of tolerance of one community to the other,” the organizer of the forum, Professor Valentina Podshivalkina said.

The researchers discussed the spiritual, social and psychological potential of human development of modern social communities, social and psychological resources of overcoming the mental and physical challenges, issues of ethno-social and ethno-cultural space.

“These discussions confirmed the need for international cooperation of scientists to develop further research of this issue to ensure the safety of socio-humanitarian conditions in the border region,” the press service mentioned.
