OdessaAviv Festival held in Israel

ODESA, MAY 28th, 2014, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – OdessaAviv Festival has taken place in Israel from 23 to 25 April, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Deputy Head of the World-Wide Club of Odessites Arkadiy Kreymer noted today, May 28, during a press conference.

According to Mr Kreymer, the festival of Odesa culture in the land of Israel was held by the support of the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption and the mayor of the city of Bat Yam. The idea of a holiday was supported by Odessites from Australia, America, Germany, Russia, and Ukraine. The Deputy Director of the World-Wide Club of Odessites Arkadiy Kreymer visited the event. Journalists, publishers, doctors and businessmen were among the participants.

Opening ceremony was held on April 24 at the newly opened Palace of Culture of the city of Bat Yam. The gala concert was attended only by Odessites: composer and violinist of the Zubin Mehta's world famous orchestra Alexander Povolotskii, famous musician from Australia Anatoly Torzhinsky, satirist, actor, member of the legendary team of KVN “Odesa gentlemen” Jan Levinson and others.

The main event of the holiday was a solemn monument applied to the stage “Grandma — old woman” — the famous heroine of Odesa folklore.
