ODESSA, JANUARY 15th, 2015, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — The volume of cargo handled in Odessa port in 2014 increased by 6.1% – data, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The Head of Administration of the Odessa seaport Mikhail Sokolov said today, January 15, during a press conference on the results of the port of Odessa in 2014 and the administration's plans for 2015.

“The cargo in Odessa port in 2014 amounted to 24.6 million tons, which is 6.1% more than in 2013 year. The increase was, in particular, and because of the redirection of the traffic from the ports of Crimea (metal, oil, gas). But, unfortunately, because of these same events we have suffered enormous damage to our strategic directions — handling of containers and cruise destination. The average drop in Ukraine recycling containers was 15%. It is a lot,” he noted.

He also added that in total cargo handling exports amounted to 66% (an increase of 19% in 2013), import — 14% (a decrease of 18% compared with 2013 year), transit — 20% (at the level of 2013).

In the nomenclature of cargo tonnage recorded the highest growth in two positions: bulk grain — 6 million 675.9 thousand tons (an increase of 25% compared with 2013 year); ferrous metals — 4 million 443.2 thousand tons (up 87.1%).

Containerized cargo for 2014 was processed 414 thousand 535 TEU, which is lower than in 2013 by 17.8%.

Among the largest stevedoring companies in the port cargo growth during the reporting period compared with the year 2013 showed Ltd. “Novolog” (166.7%), LLC “Novotekh terminal” (132.5%), LLC “Metalzyukreyn” (127.6%) . The absolute leader in the number of processed tons is the company “Brooklyn-Kiev” (the Grain harbor berths; transshipment of grain, ore, metal), reboot in 2014 about 5.5 million tons.
