KHERSON, FEBRUARY 10th, 2015, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Assistant Minister for Environment and Natural Resources Sergiy Kononov has promised to help to abolish the current practice of chemical control of water of segregated ballast in the ports of Ukraine, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The press service of the Administration of the Ports of Ukraine noted today, February 10.

According to the information, representatives of the State Enterprise “Administration of the Ports of Ukraine” took part in a meeting on improving the environmental control of ships in ports, organized by the Federation of Employers of Transport of Ukraine (FRTU). The event was held at the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine.

First meeting was held in the format of “public – business – experts – lawyers – Ministry of Natural Resources – State Environmental Inspectorate – Ministry of Infrastructure – SE “Administration of the Ports of Ukraine”.

The discussion worked out the parties' arguments both for and against the abolition of chemical control procedures of segregated ballast.

In conclusion, the Assistant Minister S. Kononov recognized experts’ convincing position and promised to argue Minister Igor Shevchenko the need to abolish the current practice of chemical control of chemical control of water of segregated ballast in the ports of Ukraine.
