ODESSA, FEBRUARY 19th, 2015, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — The Executive Director of the Center for Regional Studies Igor Studennikov considers that Ukraine is not very active in the implementation of the Danube Strategy, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Igor Studennikov noted today, February 19, during the meeting with the chairman of the Odessa Regional Council Mikhail Shmushkovich and Chairman of Chernivtsi Regional Council Mikhail Gaynicheru.

“A year ago, we have made the first step to create a network of Ukrainian Danube Forum “Civil Society”. This is an international non-governmental organization, which was created specifically to facilitate the implementation of the Danube Strategy.

Unfortunately, Ukraine is not very active in the implementation of the Danube Strategy and its involvement in the Danube Strategy. Now is an important step is to create associations with the involvement of the four areas involved in the Danube Strategy to actively represent Ukraine at the level of the Danube Strategy,” he said.

«Now within the project ‘Assistance to the Government of Ukraine in the implementation of the Danube Strategy’ developed a comprehensive vision of Ukraine’s participation in the implementation of the Danube Strategy. By the spring it is planned to complete this document, and in June to present it as a finished product. The purpose of this document is to provide guidance to our government and the leadership of the region in terms of perspective directions of participation in the implementation of the Danube Strategy. On the other hand — the EU shows that Ukraine has a vision for the implementation of the Danube Strategy,” Mr Studennikov added.
