ODESSA, MARCH 7th, 2015, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — A meeting of the Head of Odessa Regional Council Mikhail Shmushkovich with the representative of the delegation of the German economy in Ukraine, Mr. Alexander Marcus has been held in the Odessa Regional Council yesterday, March 6, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

During the meeting, Mr. Marcus spoke about the main challenges and achievements of the delegation of the German economy in Ukraine (it operates more than 20 years on the basis of an agreement signed between the governments of Ukraine and Germany). The structure presents the interests of German businessmen, companies, unions and associations, which are involved in manufacturing, trade, services and banking in Ukraine. It works closely with the German Embassy in Kyiv and Ukrainian enterprises offer their services for free. The purpose of the delegation in addition to providing practical assistance to entrepreneurs is to promote the development of Ukrainian-German economic relations.

“It so happened that in recent years in Germany and Europe as a whole Ukraine remembered only in the context of developments in Donbass. As if the economy takes a back seat. But a number of German companies operate successfully in Ukraine. And we need to develop cooperation. Thanks to a similar geographical location, Odessa, for example, could implement a number of projects with Hamburg, near the city on the Danube. Now we are planning the creation of Ukrainian-German Chamber of Commerce. And, I think, because of its work to establish new and strengthen old bilateral inter-regional economic ties will go faster,” the representative of the German side said.
