Odessa, 13 JUNE 2016, CONTEXT-Prichernomorie -- The 3d Conference of the stakeholders of the Black sea region to develop a joint marine policy in the Black sea will be held on 14-15 June in Odessa, the correspondent of IA «Context-Prichernomorie» reports.

It was reported to the agency today, on June 13, at the Department of Communications of EUBAM.

According to the Department, the 3d Conference of the stakeholders of the Black sea region which will be held in Odessa on 14-15 June, will summarize the work conducted over the past year, and determine the next steps towards the development of a common maritime policy in the Black sea.

The Department noted that «in recent years, cooperation in the marine sector and the potential of the «blue economy» in the Black sea region became particularly visible and attracted considerable attention. Representatives of public authorities and stakeholders from the private sector, working in the field of marine and sea-related business, from all Black sea countries met in Bucharest (2014) and Sofia (2015) in order to identify areas with economic potential and mutual interest, and to discuss ways of cooperation. As a result, such developing areas as the integrated management of coastal areas, found their implementation with the support of specific cross-border cooperation programs. It became available more funds for actions aimed at the sustainable «blue» development from national governments and cross-border cooperation programs.

Building on the success of two previous conferences of stakeholders, the European Commission in cooperation with Ukraine will hold in Odessa forum on «blue development».

The event will focus on the additional benefits that creates a «blue economy» in the Black sea region, and gather at the table of successful entrepreneurs and policy makers to discuss a number of issues: how to make the countries of the region more accessible to tourists; such as coastal and maritime tourism can contribute to the prosperity of the «blue economy»; as with the scientific community to study the seabed; how to finance the offshore business projects and where to look for partners; what skills and knowledge are needed to staff in the marine sector so they could use new technologies; how to use the sea without causing damage to the environment».
