KHERSON, 06 DECEMBER 2016, CONTEXT-Prichernomorie — In January-November the total turnover of the stevedoring companies operating in the territory of Kherson sea port totaled 3 million 373.2 thousand tons, the correspondent of IA «Context-Prichernomorie» reports.

It was reported to the agency today, December 06, in the press-service of the SE «Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority».

The press service reported that, according to operative data, the total turnover at the port for 11 months has reached 3 million 373.2 thousand tons or 89.5% compared to January-November 2015.

Liquid cargoes during this period, the port handled 148.53 thousand tons (88.5 % against the indicator of January-November 2015); bulk dry cargo — 2 million 679,36 thousand tons (99,6%); unitized cargo — 545,31 thousand tons (59.9 %).

REFERENCE: Kherson sea port was founded in 1778 along with a shipyard and a fortress which had become a base for future Black Sea fleet. In 1901, after 30 years associated with dredging operations, the port was opened again, and now Kherson is one of the most important ports exporting Ukrainian grain.

The port is located on the right Bank of the Dnieper river, 15 kilometers off the estuary. The approach to the port is carried out by the fairway passing through the Rvach river and the Dnieper itself. Navigation in port lasts all year round.
