ODESSA, AUGUST, 29TH, 2008, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — UEFA expert Peter Hempson has noticed that there is an «essential progress» in preparation of the Odessa airport for the European Football Championship of 2012, IA “Context-Prichernomorie” correspondent reports.

The agency was informed about this today, on August, 29th, by department of the Odessa city council on preparation and carrying out of final tournament of the European Football Championship of 2012 in Odessa.

According to the department, during visit of UEFA experts to Odessa on August, 20-21th, Peter Hempson has familiarized with the program of development of the airport and a competition course for choice of the strategic partner of reconstruction and modernization of the airport.

According to the director of «International airport «Odessa» Svetlana Pustylnikova, the main subject of expert attention was throughput of the airport after the reconstruction: Peter Hempson was interested, whether the airport is capable to accept the calculated quantity of passengers who will arrive to Odessa on a match.

General estimation of the airport reconstruction prospects project was quite optimistic.

During the final session of the UEFA expert group with the assistance of the vice-prime minister of Ukraine Ivan Vasyunik and the chairman of Executive direction of Euro-2012 Ivan Fedorenko, P. Hempson has expressed gratitude to the Ukrainian party for efforts applied in June-August in preparation of the airports.

«Essential progress is observed as to air gate. If it will be possible to keep the reached balance, I am sure that works will be executed in full volume and in time», — the expert has underlined.

As «Context-Prichernomorie» informed earlier, on August, 20-21th, UEFA experts to Odessa have taken place on August, 20-21th. Inspection of a condition of preparation of the airport, sports infrastructure and places of teams’ accommodation were key directions of this visit.
