On June, 6th at regional council session, the governor of the Odessa region Nikolay Serdyuk has declared, that Odessa may be excluded from the list of the host-cities of the Europe Football Championship of 2012.

The governor has sounded a position of minister of transport and communication of Ukraine Joseph Vinsky. Minister considers that Odessa may loose the status of the host-cities of Euro-2012 as Odessa authorities do not wish to transfer the Odessa airport to the state property.

N.Serdyuk has noted that the question of a pattern of ownership of the Odessa airport will be discussed once again at the beginning of July at meeting with participation of the President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko, during his visit to Odessa.

Chairman of the Odessa regional council Nikolay Skorik considers that the Odessa airport should remain in the city municipal property.

«I consider that our bodies of the central authority behave themselves a little bit incorrectly in this issue … I speak about statements of minister of transport of Ukraine. I did not hear them personally but if these statements were expressed, I can tell the following. Unfortunately, labour fluidity in Ukraine on this post is very high. There might be changes in short terms; other people with other points of view will come. There is a precise position of the Odessa city board and the Odessa city council deputy corps that the airport should remain in the city municipal property. And we support this point of view», — N.Skorik has told.

As IA “Context-Prichernomorie” informed on May, 20th J. Vinsky has declared at the press conference in Odessa, that «If it will not be possible to agree with the Odessa municipality then we shall pass the Law on which no sanction of the City Council to transfer of the airport in state property will be needed. And if it will not be possible to change the legislation we shall base the international airport in Nikolaev».
