ODESSA, APRIL, 10TH, 2008, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Minister of transport and communication of Ukraine Joseph Vinsky considers that Odessa has got no normal airport for today, but should have the one, “Context-Prichernomorie” correspondent reports.

This was declared by I.Vinsky today, on April, 10th, at the press conference.

«I think that Odessa should be ashamed of its airport. Promises are just promises but while we have the real fact: Odessa has no normal airport. But it should have the one. The position of the ministry is not separate there is an order of the Cabinet which precisely provides our airports development strategy. This strategy is new and it solves the matter in the other way. Its essence is in the following: the ground, air station and safety are in hands of the state. All the rest will pass in private hands on transparent auction procedure. You have a shadow project of the airport privatization. I’m categorically against this mechanism. Let the fair investor come, buys out the right to work at the airport on auction, builds the terminal, starts the aviation companies and the airport works», — the minister has told.

«I base myself on what we have today. The volume which Odessa airport processes today shows that the today's airport system is not effective and it should be cardinally changed. We shall make this in the near future», — J.Vinsky has noted.

«We have also prepared the new concept of port development in which the same mechanism as at the airports will operate. Water area, ground, mooring, safety — the uniform chief of this is the state. Everything concerning work with cargoes and people, stevedore activity, logistics and so on – to the auctions procedure, market mechanism — in private hands», — the minister has told.
