NIKOLAEV, NOVEMBER, 25TH, 2008, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – The shipbuilding factory “Liman” intends to reduce the workweek in December, IA “Context-Prichernomorie” correspondent reports.

This was reported to the agency today, on November 25th, by the general director of the factory Sergey Isakov.

According to his words this unpopular measure is caused by the fact that the building of two large orders for the total sum of more than 3.5 mln USD is frozen at the factory in connection with the economic crisis. One customer froze the project till the better times, and the other stopped paying yet a month ago.

At the same time as the head noted the enterprises will try not lay off its employees massively as it will be hard to return such specialists back. In all 6 people were laid off for the last 2 weeks.

230 staff members and about 35-40 involved specialists work at the factory.

INQUIRY: The public corporation “Shipbuilding Factory “Liman” (till August 2008 – The Black Sea Ship Mechanical Factory) as an independent enterprise appeared on the basis of shops of Nikolaev marine commercial port in 1886. Ship repair has been the main kind of activity of the enterprise for many years.

At present the Shipbuilding factory “Liman” deals with building and repair of vessels (including yachts, cutters, ships) with length under 70 m, dock weights under 800 t.

The year of 2007 ended with the loss of 1mln 938 thousand UAH for “Liman” that reduced net effective income by 59.86% or by 6 mln 645 thousand to 4 mln 457 thousand UAH “Liman”.
