11:00 / 27.11.2008

PERVOMAYSK, NOVEMBER, 27TH, 2008, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – Special elections of the city mayor of Pervomaysk are to be held on November 30th, IA “Context-Prichernomorie” correspondent reports.

This was reported to the agency today, on November 27th, in Pervomaysk executive committee of the city council.

5 candidates are struggling for the chair of the city mayor of Pervomaysk – the candidate from BYT Vladimir Vovk, the candidate from the Party of regions – the present secretary of the city council, acting mayor, Lyudmila Dromashko, the student of one of Pervomaysk institutes Andrey Mezentzev (the youngest of the candidates – he’s only 20), the pensioner-entrepreneur Nikolay Sikorsky and the director of one of Pervomaysk enterprises Vladimir Simachenko who nominated himself as a candidate of the city mayor position 2 years ago but ranked second. There were also another two candidates but the city executive commission refused them in registration for technical reasons.

The special elections are assigned in connection with the fact that Irina Sicheva elected in March 2006 sent in her resignation this year because of disagreement with the deputy corps. I. Sicheva was elected a mayor not for the first time – from 1996 to 1998 she was the acting city mayor as the deputy after resignation of the mayor of that time. Then at the special elections in 2000 she headed the city authority again. After her recent resignation I. Sicheva does not participate in the present preterm elections.

As the head of the Center of social-economic and political researches and technologies “Perspektiva” Mikhail Antonenko told the agitation campaign in Pervomaysk was held very listlessly, all candidates were little known. As the results of the research of the public opinion show many Pervomaysk citizens still haven’t decided whom to vote for. It is supposed that the voters’ appearance will be rather high, more than 50%. However about 30% of the citizens still haven’t decided which candidate to choose for voting. They will make their decision either this week or directly in the polling booth.
